Longtime temp-worker Jacob, pushing 30 and beginning to fear destiny has passed him by, cites Clinton's continuing concessions to the right as proof that politics is bunk. Now he is being haunted by a manic bag lady who claims to be in touch with the President. Meanwhile, a mysterious string of E-mail taunts turn the Man from Hope's sneaking fear that history will remember him as a bad joke to terrified certainty, and provokes him to a desperate attempt at breaking capital's chokehold on the capitol. When each finds himself mano-a-mano with "Hacksaw" Jack Belch, king of corporate downsizers, will Clinton have the stuff? Will Jacob seize the time? |
