Knocked Up was a classic commedia dell'arte, using traditional Italian Renaissance costumes, masks and hilarious predicaments while confronting a contemporary issue - a woman's right to choose when and if she will become a mother. The plot involves a magic comet which passes by and makes all men suddenly pregnant - after the head honcho declares that abortion is illegal. The play comically portrays what might happen if the tables were turned and men became pregnant, placing them on the other side of the issue and its consequences.

Second Stage
In 1992 the Mime Troupe designed a performing company whose outreach would include the Bay Area community and youth groups, conducting workshops and creating an environment where new work could be written that focused on the concerns of teens and young adults. This additional performing company was called "Second Stage" and it was a short lived endeavor, lasting only two years, with a total of two productions. Jack Takes It Back was the first production.
