The Cost of Free - Update
Dear Trouper,

Wow, what a week it's been!

Last Monday we let you all know about "The Cost of Free" and the financial roadblocks that threaten our summer season. The response was immediate, generous and extremely gratifying. So far we have received about $12,000! Thank you to all who contributed to this healthy jump start. Simply put-you rock!

Becky O'Malley's editorial in The Daily Planet continued the thread.

And now many more know the story thanks to the one by Rob Hurwitt in Wednesday's San Francisco Chronicle:

"For the first time in half a century, the San Francisco Mime Troupe may not be performing in Bay Area parks this summer.....says it needs "to have at least $40,000 more in hand by the end of April" ... The long recession has taken its toll ... Meanwhile, performing for free keeps getting more expensive with the rise in the cost of everything from park permits and portable toilet rentals to paint and material for sets."

People have called and written telling us they are forwarding the letter and newstories, to their friends. Some are starting letter campaigns of their own.

The troops are rallying for the Troupe!!!

And that's exactly what we need to get the word out. We are still only a quarter of the way  to our goal yet "our show or no show" deadline grows closer.

Someone said the San Francisco Mime Troupe is as much a part of the city as the Golden Gate Bridge or the Transamerica pyramid. If you agree, then join the campaign to keep us alive and onstage and not a historical footnote.

Please forward this to someone who can help make a difference.
